Bachelorette visits Vancouver, Whistler, Banff
By Sara Williams • Jun 23rd, 2009 • Category: Hollywood NorthThe popular ABC Television’s The Bachelorette primetime television show, featuring Vancouverite Jillian Harris, travelled north across the Canadian border to film three episodes in spectacular Vancouver, the renowned ski resort of Whistler, and a romantic ride on the rails through the majestic Canadian Rockies to Banff, Alberta.
In Vancouver, The Bachelorette introduced her dates to many of the city’s popular tourist attractions and outdoor activities, including kayaking around Granville Island
, a boat cruise
around the harbour, a helicopter ride over the city to dine atop Grouse Mountain
. After a day of dating adventures, the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver
— a heritage hotel in the heart of the city — provided elegant accommodations.
Following dates and excursions in and around Vancouver, Jillian and her suitors travelled by limousine along the scenic, and recently upgraded, Vancouver to Whistler Sea to Sky Highway — the golden route to the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
In Whistler, the show’s cast checked into the magnificent Chateau Whistler Resort
, located at the base of Blackcomb Mountain. The next day, Jillian and and one of her dates experienced the thrilling Ziptrek
through a Cedar, Hemlock, and Douglas Fir forest canopy, played in the fresh powder snow above the Tantalus Glacier, wined and dined in one of Whistler’s finest restaurants, and relaxed in one of the many hot tubs with sweeping mountain views.
After exploring the West Coast, the show travelled east along the historic Canadian Pacific Railway lines. Jillian and the gang boarded the Rocky Mountaineer
passenger train in downtown Vancouver and enjoyed “GoldLeaf” onboard service as they rode in style through the British Columbia Fraser Valley and Canyon, Hell’s Gate, the Okanagan, and the BC Rockies — with a “one of the most dramatic rose ceremonies ever” destination of Banff, Alberta.
